My Nutrition and how I got here:

My nutrition is very important to me, as it should be. The saying:

"You can't outrun a bad diet"

Is certainly right for me, I seem to only have to sniff something off my standard lifestyle and I gain a few pounds. Feel free to keep reading but a good background to my approach is the following video.

You can break my history down into the following phases:

Childhood - Was active and ate what I like but got away with it.

16+ - Ate rubbish and decreased activity so my weight went up to around 20 stone.

End of 2014 - Went low carb and lost weight quickly, by the end of the year I was 154 down from 263lbs.

2016 - 2017 - My weight remained pretty stable although I added more nuts, cream and things like Grenade bars. During the start of 2017 I marathon trained and got injured but continued to eat like I was marathon training so gained weight.

2018 - Complete write off. I stayed low carb but "dirty" with things like keto cakes and the other things I mentioned above. My weight got back up to at least 14 stone, probably more like 14 1/2.

2019 - 2020 Getting over my injury led to renewed attempts to lose weight, this time by trying to be stricter again and attempted both fasting and intermittent fasting.

2021 - 2023 Carnivore!! - Meat only works great and I feel great. I still don't get down as far as I like and try dairy (I gain weight rapidly) and come to the conclusion that for me what works best is:

  • Carnivore - Mostly beef, some lamb, some bacon, some chicken. Seasoned with salt and washed down with water, sometimes sparkling.
  • Intermittent fasting - Generally I eat within an 8 hour window, I do lose more weight with a 4 hour window but a few things suggest that 8 hours is more optimal for health.
  • Strength and Cardio - I do lots of cardio through running and walking and strength training little and often round the house..
I plan to do some future posts on the different ways to use fasting and the different approaches to healthy eating that you can use to be in the optimal health to achieve best performance.

My Progress and Goals for 2025

I was hoping to do vlogs but it appears I am not very good at that, also it is usually good to have some exciting content to post... and well with me it is mostly the same each week. I ate meat, I ran slowly (except for parkrun) and I was building on being consistent.  And really being consistent is my goal for this year. I ideally would like to stay happy and healthy whilst getting some personal bests along the way, I don't know if I will do it but if I love the process it doesn't really matter.  So what are my goals, both outcome and process?  Run 3000 miles - ideally run, but if I get ill or injured then cross training might have to count.  Consistently strength train  Consistently work on my mental health and training.  Stick to a carnivore diet Continue to learn  Break my 5k PB (17:08)  and ideally run 16:43. The latter because parkrun stopwatch bingo says I only haven't finished in a time with 43 on the end!  Run a half marathon PB (1:2...

Being Given the all Clear

Barefoot Britain by Anna McNuff

I have recently finished this audiobook and it was a good listen. I won't go into my usual level of detail as I didn't learn much from this to share on a running coaching site. Was it a good listen? Yes, Was it about running? Mostly. Was there any coaching tips? Not really. Advice from it? Have a good time, listen to your body and preserver.
